Are You Stuck or Just Ready for Your Next Level?
Mar 19, 2026
It’s easy to feel stuck in life or business. You work hard, follow the advice, and push yourself, but somehow, your results stay the same. Most people assume the problem is a lack of discipline or motivation. In many cases, the real issue isn't effort; it's that you’re in a stage you've already outgrown. Therefore, understanding the six stages of change can reveal why progress feels difficult and what to do to finally break through.
1. Pre-Contemplation (The Wake-Up Call)
This is where potential remains untapped. People in this stage often settle for comfort, perform below their potential, or fail to recognize the need for change. Transformation doesn’t happen until something disrupts the status quo.
2. Contemplation (Awareness)
Here, you begin to see the gap between your current reality and your potential. You may ask yourself, “I can’t keep living like this,” but the next step isn’t yet clear.
3. Preparation (Decision)
High performers move from awareness to preparation. They stop negotiating with their potential and start making concrete plans to act.
4. Action (Execution)
This is where the real work happens. Showing up consistently, building aligned habits, and pushing through discomfort separates those who grow from those who plateau.
5. Maintenance (Consistency)
Sustaining results requires discipline, accountability, and alignment with your identity. Motivation alone won’t carry you.
6. Mastery (Identity)
At this stage, transformation is no longer something you do; it’s who you are. At this stage, habits, mindset, and standards are fully embodied.
Moving Forward
The stage you’re in right now determines whether your life is expanding or quietly holding you back. Awareness is powerful, but without action, nothing changes. Therefore, take a moment to reflect. Ask yourself, “Where am I currently in these stages? What decision have I been postponing?” Bear in mind that growth requires clarity, courage, and commitment. Therefore, recognize your stage, commit to the next step, and move forward intentionally. The next level of your life or career isn’t out of reach; it’s waiting for you to step into it. Finally, remember: you’re not stuck. You’re simply ready for your next level.
