New Year's Resolution

As the old year fades into oblivion, with the New Year taking its place, you might be thinking about or have already made your New Year's resolutions. For many, a new year means another chance to create a better career, relationship, and life. With the best of intentions, however, many of us tend to forget those resolutions by the middle of the year. So, even though shaking old habits may not be the easiest task, here are three steps to make your new year's resolutions stick.

Set realistic goals

A realistic goal is an achievable future target based on your current mindset, motivation level, time-frame, skills, and abilities. Realistic goals help you identify what you want and what you can achieve if you are willing to do the work required. So take some time and write down your goal. Writing down your goals is the first step towards achieving them. So don't just think about it; be about it and write it down.

Take action

Knowing what to do is not an issue for many people. The problem lies in them taking action required to get the job done. Hence, having set realistic goals, the next step is to take action. Take action now, not tomorrow. Don't wait for another day. To go anywhere, you have to start somewhere. Therefore, to reach personal success, life success, business success, or any form of success, you must take action based on your goals.

Sustain your results

During goal achievement, it is essential to remember that success never ends with action. Furthermore, without a solid commitment to maintaining your results, you will experience relapse. In addition, maintenance is a long ongoing process. As the late Robert Schuler puts it, "Success is never ending, and failure is never final." For example, many people have lost weight through trendy weight loss programs only to regain weight later. Hence, you have got to be intentional in your effort to be a little better each day because if you want to be effective in your sphere of life, you have got to sustain your results.
