The Power of Belief

Belief is the most powerful force in the Universe. Belief is what enables and allows the extraordinary to happen. Just as our limiting beliefs can cause us to miss out on opportunities in life, empowering beliefs can open up possibilities beyond our wildest dreams and create a fulfilled life for us. Our belief shapes our thoughts, which determine our actions and, ultimately, the outcome we receive. Hence, if you desire to be more, do more, or achieve more, you may need to consider the power of belief and ensure that you install an empowering belief system within your subconscious mind instead of a limiting belief.

Why you should believe

On May 25, 1961, before a joint session of Congress, President Kennedy delivered a visionary speech considered one of the greatest speeches in history. In this memorable speech, Kennedy told Congress as he sought funding for this impossible dream: "First, I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before the decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth."

Kenedy's belief that it was possible to land a man on the moon soon became a reality. On July 20, 1969, eight years after the speech, NASA's Apollo 11 mission landed the first two humans on the moon. Mission commander Neil Armstrong's first words from the moon were breathtaking. All over the earth, he was heard saying, "That's one small step for 'a' man; one giant leap for mankind." All this happened as a result of belief. There is, without a shadow of a doubt, that there is power in belief. Hence, regardless of the size or scope of your goal, dream, or aspiration, believing that it's possible can change your circumstance, your life, and maybe the world. As a matter of fact, as a result of many people having a "Can Do It" attitude, many things that were thought to be outside of the realm of possibility occur regularly all around the world every day.

Chose to believe

There once was an elephant at a circus that the owners chained to a pole as an infant. The elephant tried to break away but was not strong enough. Over time, he became monstrous. The circus accidentally went on fire one day, and the elephant died. He was enormous and could have easily ripped the pole out of the ground to run away to safety, but there was a self-limiting belief in his mind that told him he would not be able to do it, so he didn't even try. Like that elephant who died without discovering its true potential due to limiting beliefs, many people in the world may be experiencing a similar fate.

Henry Ford was right when he said, "Whether you believe you can or you can't, you're right." Hence, you have to choose to believe if you are to achieve your dream and goals in life. Additionally, always be mindful of the fact that unbelief carries consequences. It will prohibit the fulfillment of your dream, put a cap on your potential, and lead to an unfulfilled life. Hence, choosing to believe should be the only option, as doing so open up doors of opportunities and makes what was once impossible possible.

Belief makes a big difference

If you want things to happen personally and professionally, start believing because amazing things will happen when you do. By believing, I mean having certainty that the mental picture of the future you hold in your mind will one day be a tangible reality in the present. It is having certainty that if you do what is required, you will succeed. This certainty is akin to that of the White brothers, who believed that one day they would have a flying machine – the airplane flying through the sky. It is being certain, like J. F. K, that one day a man would land on the moon. Also, it is being certain that whatever dream you have can and will come true.

Consequently, belief is the Universe's most powerful and creative force. Albert Einstein once said, "Imagination is the greatest creative force in the Universe." Hence, whatever you desire personally and professionally, believe it is possible. Bear in mind, however, that your only obstacle is you and, to a large extent, your belief system. Therefore, if you are ready to step into your greatness and achieve your ambitious goals, it's time to start believing because belief has power.
